My site has been updated but it looks the same as before. Why is this?
Your browser caches content from the web in order to speed up your browsing by preventing the browser from downloading files and content that you have recently visited. In order to see the changes you need to clear this cache so that your browser will be forced to grab a new copy of the files from the server. The method for clearing the cache varies depending on which browser you are using but you can find a comprehensive guide here.
Why does my website look so different in IE6?
Browsers age faster than dogs and IE6 was released in 2001! As technologies and standards have moved forward IE6 has been left behind. IE6 tends to break when a new standard or technology is implemented to a website… Unfortunately it’s generally the stuff that makes a website look cool such as transparent PNG’s and JavaScript.
Why do people still use IE6?
Very few people (3.8 % of the 26% IE total market share as of Jan 2011) use IE6.
These statistics are skewed as many developers have been testing their sites in IE6, so the numbers are very likely higher in reality. It’s quite possible that the main reason people still use IE6 is to test to see what a website looks like in IE6.
Should I be worried about IE6?
Only if you’re still using it. IE6 was made in the days when it was safe to leave your front door unlocked and say "hello" to strange people. But those days have sadly gone and security is the order of the day. If you’re still an IE6 user please download the latest version from here.
