I-COM develops new online presence for Foundation for Peace
The Tim Parry Jonathan Ball Foundation for Peace has a new online home, developed by Manchester full-service online marketing specialist I-COM.
The Foundation’s new website, www.foundation4peace.org, is now live. Features include the Survivors for Peace Forum, which is an online community for people who have been affected by conflict and terrorism. The site also includes a facility where Foundation supporters can make a donation online.
Founded by Colin and Wendy Parry, who lost their 12-year old son Tim in the 1993 IRA bombing of Warrington, the Foundation for Peace is a registered charity which supports others affected by political violence, conflict and acts of terror to empower them to make positive contributions to peace in their own communities and beyond.
I-COM is a longstanding supporter and has been providing advice and hands-on support for the Foundation’s online efforts for the last four years.
The new website includes a purpose-built Content Management System (CMS), which will allow the charity to upload and manage most of the website’s content themselves, keeping overheads to an absolute minimum.
“The Foundation has evolved considerably during the time we have worked with I-COM,” said Claire White, chief executive at the Foundation.
“We’ve rebranded and are pulling together all the work we do for victims and for young people alike and the website reflects this new focus for the charity.
“The new site will include a lot more regularly updated content than we have had previously so it is important that we are able to manage that content. I-COM provided a CMS system that the team here have got to grips with straight away.”
Another new area for the charity is social media. The website includes a blog for the first time and it is also being integrated with a presence for the charity on both Facebook and Twitter.
“The Foundation does so much work with young people - being active on Facebook and on other channels where young people are having conversations is absolutely essential,” said I-COM managing director Tim Roberts.
“These are the areas we will be developing further with the Foundation over the coming months.”
I-COM is one of Manchester’s largest online marketing agencies. Established in 2005, it now employs 30 people at its city centre offices. Key clients include Dreams, Magnus and JMW Solicitors.
The agency’s work has enjoyed a raised profile over the past 12 months. Its campaigns have been nominated in categories at both the DADI and the Some Comms awards, while a recent web clinic hosted by I-COM attracted nearly 50 Manchester-based businesses.
