PPC – Not just for Christmas!

By Clair Wescott in Search Engine Marketing on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 @ 17:02

We often get asked at I-COM what is involved in PPC management and why it is so important.  Well, one of the many tasks we carry out is to search for the top keywords and see what the competition is doing and how we can better ourselves in terms of ad text and landing pages. This morning, no different to any other, I was benchmarking different furniture keywords and was very surprised at a result I got for the term “oak bedroom furniture”.

Yes the above image is correct; a company in July is still advertising its January sale! This has the potential not only to damage company reputation but put buyers off altogether. So, the moral of the story is to check your ads and don’t forget to turn off seasonal ads and sales when they are finished.

I agree strongly with this post, sometimes when i do searches i see very old irrelevant searches. I wish people would realise more that they need to take off old ads! I feel it definately puts customers off seeing old specials. Thanks for the post, great point!
