A couple of weeks ago, we published a list of the influential law firm tweeters in England, which you can read about on this blog.

Earlier today the story was picked up by The Drum Magazine, a marketing magazine published out of Glasgow. This led to it being noticed by one of the journalists at The Firm, a scottish legal publication.

He asked me why there weren't any Scottish firms in my list. I replied that we didn't really follow many of them that closely and that the list was designed to cover English firms only.

Our original version was developed in response to a list published elsewhere which had a very small sample base and whilst we used the same simplistic methodology (Klout score) we felt our list was better because we included many more firms in the original analysis.

The reason we originally prepared our list should have warned me not to take the conversation further - we had been upset because some of our smaller clients who were particularly active on social media were not included in the initial research.

Anyway whilst caveating that our database wasn't as complete as it might be I did give the journalist some names of those firms that ranked highest in our restricted list.

The story hit The Firm this morning and since then there's been a lot of discussion about why various firms had been missed. I think in part it's about Scottish pride because the piece in the firm pointed out that only a couple might make the English Top Ten.

Anyway, to try to put things right please find below a list of what we think are the Top Law Firm tweeters in Scotland, based on our initial list and others added into the mix through online conversations today.

  1. Biggart Baillie
  2. Harper Macleod
  3. Inksters
  4. MacRoberts
  5. Lawford Kidd
  6. MBM Commercial
  7. Burness
  8. McGrigors
  9. Brodies
  10. Maclay, Murray & Spens

Two caveats: this is a picture in time and Klout scores change daily, so the list may be different tomorrow. Secondly, we cannot guarantee the completeness of the list. If you have a klout account you can view the list here.

With this in mind, if you are aware of a Scottish law firm that's active on Twitter and you think they should be included, let us know and we'll evaluate them.
